well, new to me!
got the Tropical Turquoise EJ Strat a couple of weeks ago
and I love the dumb thing so much I decided to look for a second!
found the Palomino metallic in a local shop,
brought in a couple of nice guits with vintage frets and fretboard radius
and got the Palomino plus some nice store credit.

I'm sure these wouldn't be for everyone, but I love the flat fretboard and feel of the neck,
the custom colors and bound fretboard, the stock pickups are GREAT...
what killer guitars! I think these are going to be my main guits for a loooong while.
I didn't realize how much harder I was working with my vintage spec-d guits...
gimme a flat board and bigger frets (within reason) any day!

Play one while staring at the other?

totally.

but yeah, I bought the second one thinking I would throw some different pickups in it just for something different, but they sound so good I'm second-guessing myself now. what the hell, you find maybe your favorite guitar ever, buy a second one for backup/giggles. why not?

Very nice! (twice!)

I tried one of the maple fingerboard versions last week. I thought I was playing a '57 reissue at first. I really liked it. After a while it dawned on me that it was a 57 AVRI and I actually looked at the tag. Gassing for one now.

Totally with you on the frets/radius thing. I switched years ago. I had two AV 52RI teles, and a really nice AV57 strat. I bought them because "vintage is better", right? Then I dusted off my old Am. Std. and it was so much easier to play I couldn't believe it. Then I got into Gibsons. 12" radius and tall frets. Wow. Just amazing.

I'm back into strats really heavy again lately, but have not been gigging them. I want a flatter one than my Am. Std. guitars. I have played the EJ guitars, and I think at some point, there is definitely one in my future. just not sure when. They are kinda pricey for a guy on a guitarosts salary. I seriously want one though. Not sure I'd go rosewood, thought I do like the looks. I'm thinking a red/maple one for me.

Very nice guitars man. Enjoy the hell out of them!

Very nice. I've got a Dakota red Rosewood. Had 3 Maple versions but my preference is the Rosewood.

I strongly favor rosewood over maple for fretboard material myself.
I also LOVE the look of the bound fretboard on the RW version.
Dakota Red is so cool, jazzrat!
If I get another EJ (and I'm pretty sure I will), the Dakota Red version is the frontrunner.

Love the bound necks!
The blue ones (both) look great.

Dakota Red is so cool, jazzrat!

It's growing on me. I am nuts for blues and blue greens so the other colors were my first
choice. Dakota is a very rich, lipstick red. The guitar is amazing no matter the color. After this pic was taken I put a Callaham Vintage narrow bridge on it which moves the strings in from the edges of the fretboard a tad.
