So i gots an idea of what a "strat sound" is but want to see what yall think. whether its the 2 or 4 position, funky trem play, or just an attack or genera.

so my post is the sound that i associate with a srat, but i am having a hard time getting it it out of mine. granted mine is a bass wood squier but it does have upgrade tuners, pickups, nut etc. through a DRRI with a boss blues driver. is there a pedal though that would help me sound like the intro to this....

Doug Marrth's sound is pretty much just Strat into a fender amp. It's just a hair on th edirty side. I can't remember what model it is but I think it has lace sensors.

yes,2 & 4 produce the quack. teles cluck, strats quack. look it up. ;)
pickup height will affect that. experiment.
and do it without the blues driver on or connected.

Per the original post song. I'd say it's mostly attack and tremolo technique.

I think alot of Doug's tone comes from his fingers - he's a phenomenal player, uses bends and the whammy very effectively. That said, I can get fairly close to this sound on my CP 60s strat with a bit of boost from a TS type pedal.

Such a great song. Keep it Like a Secret killed me when I first heard it - really influenced both my singing and guitar playing.

Didn't a lot of the early BTS stuff use slides and open tuning?
