5E3 blowing fusesTNO May 21st, 2012, 12:44 PM My 5E3 clone has started blowing fuses. What should I be looking at? PT? refin May 21st, 2012, 12:59 PM Could be a shorted tube. BobbyZ May 21st, 2012, 01:48 PM If you have a light bulb limiter now is a good time to use it ! Beats buying fuses. Like Refin said a shorted tube I'd start with the rectifier. Oh is it blowing the fuse right away or does it take a while? Cruisin Home May 21st, 2012, 02:41 PM 1) pull all tubes, power up, see if fuse blows. if it does stop there you have a problem with line in/PT?etc. 2) if 1 ok then put in rectifier tube and turn on again. if fails likely bad RT. 3) turn B+ on with your standby switch. if fails have to go looking for short (could be bad cap that is now blown/shorted) that should be enough homework, try that and let us know.
