I also posted this thread over in the Strat-talk forum.
I was previously using the Amazing Slow Downer on my PC. Its a decent program, adjusts pitch and tempo, etc. But I own the PC version.
Since I upgraded to an iMac, I downloaded the 30 day free trial version of Transcribe and although I have only used it a couple of times, I am liking it better. I am about to purchase the full version...I think. (Its also cheaper than ASD).
I tune my guitar to E flat, so I use the program routinely to drop the pitch of (most) songs down a half step to match the open string sound of my guitar.
(Hendrix songs, SRV, etc are mostly already tuned down to Eb.)
I also slow the tempo of songs down in order to learn fast passages, solos, etc.
I really like the Transcribe "karaoke" setting, whick removes most of the vocals wihile removing none (or very little) of the instruments. I think this is superior to adjusting the ASD equalizer settings and trying to achieve the same thing, which didn't work as well.
Before I pay for the full version of Transcribe, can anyone recommend anything they believe is better? (I think I will be more than satisfied with Transcribe, but just checking...)
Some may say use the Windows player, but I have an iMac (without Windows) and to my knowledge, it will only slow the speed, not change the pitch, which is MANDATORY for me.
Any way....anyone use anything better or have any useful tips for using Transcribe?
