Scored this old P12R, supposedly from 1956, but don't know how many ohms it is. Can you tell from the markings?

How many ohms is this speaker?picknpluck May 18th, 2012, 11:16 AM Scored this old P12R, supposedly from 1956, but don't know how many ohms it is. Can you tell from the markings? 127987 Wally May 18th, 2012, 11:42 AM All P12R's that I have seen have been 8 ohm speakers. IF you have a multimeter, read the resitance across the tabs. IT will read close to 6.3ohms if it is an 8 ohm speaker. IT is dated the 33rd week of 1956. Platefire May 18th, 2012, 11:47 AM Cool Speaker! I can't tell from makings. If you have a voltage meter, set it to Ohms, place a lead on each speaker contact. 2 to 5 = 4 Ohms. 6 to 8= 8 Ohms. Modern Saint May 18th, 2012, 11:52 AM Very cool speaker and the spider looks in great condition too! picknpluck May 18th, 2012, 12:59 PM I'm hoping It's 8 ohms so I can put it in my 5E3 build. I scored it off eBay for $70! I'll try getting the readings when I get home. picknpluck May 19th, 2012, 12:02 PM Yay! The speaker measured 7.3 ohms at the contacts! |
