Looking for a little help. I'm painting a tele body that I built for my 10 year old from scratch and have sprayed (successfully I think) auto air sparklescent paint on the body, curing between coats with a heat gun. I got a nice evenly colored finish, but the paint layer is rather bumpy. I intend to spray two part urethane over the paint layers. Here's my question: Should I build up several layers of urethane before I start smoothing the finish with wet sanding so I don't affect the paint layer? Also can I spray further coats of urethane (if needed) after I've done some wet sanding? I've never used automotive paints before. Any help is appreciated.
Also if anyone has ever used auto air colors before and can't get their hands on the reducer (which was my case), I reduced my paint with a mixture of Fantastik (the cleaner), distilled water water and a few drops of glycerine to avoid tip dry. It worked pretty well.
