Sproingiest reverb pedal

I've read several threads about reverbs pedals for instro surf music, but I'd like to ask a bit more specific question to you wise people:

I play through a Twin Reverb and I love the amp's reverb. I leave the reverb on all the time at about 3 or so depending on the room. But I'd like to also have a reverb pedal for silly, sproingy, drippy, splashy, bright reverb for when my band's occasional ventures into campy '60s instro guitar rock. Below are some examples of the sound I'm talking about. To be clear, I'm not looking for a nice, natural, subtle, or accurate sounding reverb pedal. I don't want to buy or carry and maintain a real reverb tank. I just want a pedal for a trashy instro sound occasionally. Though I want a trashy sound, I don't want a pedal (Danelectro?) that will screw up my sound the rest of the time because of a poorly executed bypass.

Examples:

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Eventide Space will do everything you want... and a whole, whole lot more. Plus, you can determine the type of bypass you want - TB or Buffer.

U2 to Los Straitjackets and NIN to Bill Frisell. It can do it all.

Malekko Spring Chicken LE, Subdecay Spring Theory are two that will do what you want, and won't break the bank.

Just a note, there is an embed function that lets you post those YouTube clips so you don't have to paste that long url.

Thanks, artdecade and telebuc. The Eventide Space violates my firm $200 ceiling on effects pedals, but I appreciate the suggestion. I need to try the Malekko and Subdecay pedals. Telebuc, do you know whether the Spring Chicken is worth hunting down instead of their new version, the Malekko Spring?

Why don't you get a pedal for the always-on subtle 'verb, and use the Twin's tank for the crashing surf? It's the archetype for that kind of stuff.

Sproingy. I believe that's what they call le mot juste.

Rich S, that's a nice idea. I think I'll try it both ways and see what works better. I thought I'd use the amp reverb for my always-on because I like the sound so much and have guessed that a pedal would probably do bad, unsubtle reverb better than beautiful, subtle reverb. But that may not be the case. The upside to using the amp for the unsubtle reverb is that I can kick the amp to get that crashing sound.

Why thank you, hemingway.

I've been through a bunch of verb pedals. Here's what I think.
EHX Cathedral - a little over your 200 buck limit, but very good. Good spring, an echo and tons of other options.
Hermida - really good only 99 bucks. It's a little subtle, very nice.
EHX Holy grail - good, had tons of problems getting it to work on a daily basis.
Line 6 M5 - Best verbs for me so far. The '63 spring on this thing is wonderful. I have mine set the way I like it and I'm yet to find a pedal that is better. Tons of plates, rooms, halls and some crazy stuff to boot. Plus it's a delay and mod and everything else it does.

Look at Digitech RV-7 reverb.

For about the same cost as filling up the gas tank in a full size pickup truck, you can get a nice used Boss FRV-1. It's totally dedicated to the sound of a Fender reverb unit. It sounds good, it's cute, and plays well with others. Sounds great with instrumental rock (that's what I'm into).

Thanks, everyone. Looney77, I hadn't even thought of the Line6 M5. That might be fun to play around with. I'd heard pretty good things about the Line6 Verbzilla, which probably has the same reverb array as the M5.

Gold Rush, how useful is the tone control on the FRV-1? Does it only change the tone of the reverb tails or does it change the tone of the whole sound? As for it being cute, it can't be cuter than the Malekko Spring, which is extra tiny and pink.

The Tone control only affects the reverb signal (same as the Tech 21 RVB pedal that I also use). And speaking of the Tone control, it sounds best to me to keep it no more than 25%-35% of it's range (or less), or it can get a little too bright, especially with single coils. In fact, I usually keep the Tone dialed real low as I mostly use bridge p/ups and keep my amp/s sort of bright. I notice no signal loss when the pedal is off either.

At first I didn't like the FRV-1, but after I really spent some time with it (nearly a year now), I've come to like it quite a bit. One of my customized amps has a vintage 17" 2-spring Accutronics unit and the FRV-1 sounds as good or better (the reverb circuit in that amp isn't all that great though).

Yes, the Malekko is much cuter! Which is one I'd sure like to try out someday.

How about the Shimverb?

BiggerJohn, have you used the Shimverb? How is the spring reverb emulation? How well does it do that sproingy surf sound? It would be nice, though not essential, for a reverb pedal as small as the Shimverb, but I haven't heard much about the pedal.
