cdtele May 17th, 2012, 12:39 PM Inspired after watching "Standing In the Shadows of Motown" (great documentary) Those guys knew how to play on records! If you haven't seen it and like the Motown sound then do yourself a favor and watch it.
The track is from BobbysBackingTracks...love this tune and always have. Hope you do too.

ADinNYC May 17th, 2012, 10:30 PM Wow Chuck! You have awesome tone, technique, timing, melodic sense, etc. etc. etc. Very nice!
Me thinks Larry Carton may be an influence.
Old Cane May 18th, 2012, 03:31 PM nice
klasaine May 18th, 2012, 04:14 PM Right on, very cool!
*I found myself really digging on the rhythm guitar too (I assume it's you). Simple, even, to the point and never wavering. Totally understated yet absolutely perfect for the track.

I really appreciate you bringing that up Klasaine. I had as much fun playing the rhythm guit parts (strat, there's a 2nd way in the back, it's sparse) as I did the melody/solo stuff. That kind of R&B style of rhythm playing is not something that I get to do very often these days and always loved players like Cornell Dupree and Buzz Feiten for their outstanding rhythm chops. "Right On" it is..

Exactly, that why I'm glad that you brought it up. R&B style rhythm guitar is turning into a lost art.
Cool and very inspirational! You did justice to one of my favorite tunes of all time.
From one old guitar player to another, thank you!

Thanks, I used to listen to a lot of SD back in the day. They always had fine guitar players...

Vibrowhatzit May 30th, 2012, 06:47 PM Very nice Chuck.. I love that song, that's a great version. I did a pure Motown gig back in the 80's, horns and the whole thing. We basically played for free (door) on a weekday night once a week in a small local small club in Fort Worth, TX. Everybody did other musical things to actually make money, but we all did that because it was so much fun. :-)
