Never had a 575, but in the past had a H-157 and a Blues Deluxe. Both fine guitars, but now hooked on Teles. That burst on the one in the pic looks sweet! If I could just justify a jazz box--------

A friend had one until he traded it on a Heritage Super KB Kenny Burrell signature model.

The H575 was a great playing and sounding guitar. I think you have got yourself a winner.

All my Heritage experience is through my friend's guitars. He also has a Les Paul style 150 and a semi-solid 535. Every one of those Heritage guitars is a beauty.

My brother has the single cut 335 style Heritage he bought years ago and it's an amazing guitar. Might be a Roy Clark..I'm not sure.

I have a 575 Custom, 2006 model I think, with SD 59s.

Bought mine used and had the bridge changed on request by the dealer to a TOM with rosewood base.

Nice one jazztele! I think that will fit you very well. The Heritage guitars have some beautiful finishes, and craftsmanship. Do you play another Heritage as well, I can't remember?

Congrats! can't wait to see it.

I talked to Mimi Fox a few months ago and she really likes hers. It sounded great and you can't do better than a solid wood archtop like that, especially for the price compared to a Gibson ES175. I want to pull the trigger someday on a Gibson ES 175, but the Heritage line is really making me think....enjoy your new guitar!!

I have a Heritage H575C. Best jazz guitar I've ever owned. Fantastic instrument for any, or no, genre. Very different sound & feel to a Gibson ES175. This Heritage model is more similar to the Gibson L4C.

Surprisingly heavy, if you think a jazz box is some light thing. The carved top is pretty thick & solid.

Here's my custom 575 I bought off somebody years ago:

- Neptune Blue
- Var-I-Phase electronics
- Individual output for each pickup

I've got a 157 Black Beauty w/Bigsby as well.

p.s., this is my first post here since January 24th, 2005. I read through the entire "Champ 600" thread the other day after ordering one and figured I ought to visit again.

Cheers

Nice Score Dude!

Jazztele:

You HAVE to do a video demo when it arrives. Not negotiable!

Heritage always executes the best burst finishes. They're all slightly different, and they're all beautiful!

So I've had the 575 in my possession for a few days and wanted to give those who asked a few impressions on it...I personally have never come across a Heritage in a store, and therefore hopefully my comments can help anybody who is interested in this model...

I also posted this over on jazzguitar.be, so feel free to ignore it here if you read it there!

First, a picture:

The finish is among the nicest I've ever seen...perfectly executed...called "antique sunburst," which is a pretty good name for it. The guitar is built quite well, and even on a 16 year old instrument like this one, which was obviously not "babied," everything seems tight and like new, despite plenty of nicks, dents, and scratches.

The guitar is quite heavy, and does not have much acoustic presence (not that it was expected, that's not what the guitar is made for)...still, what acoustic tone it does have is actually quite pleasing, and works fine for unplugged practice.

Plugged in, the instrument really shines...the humbuckers are a relatively low output type, which gives a somewhat dark, very natural tone that doesn't drive the amp too hard...they're perfect jazz pickups, IMHO. The bridge pickup is rather dark, and may not be good for folks who like a dramatic change in sound between the neck and bridge...for me, this makes the bridge pickup actually useful, as I can flip to the middle position to get a little more "bite" to the tone without getting all "clucky."

Playability is excellent. The neck is almost a "D" shape, hand filling but not "fat." It's very easy to get around on. The large frets, which I usually don't like, feel fine on this guitar, probably due to the more substantial neck profile. Access is pretty easy to the upper frets. The guitar shipped with what appeared to be D'Addairo .12's, I replaced them with John Pearse nickelwound .12's...intonation is spot on...might go up to .13's next string change.

As mentioned before, the guitar is quite heavy, and carries much of it's weight in it's butt...this means that standing the neck pops right up into playing position, but sitting is a bit more comfortable with a strap or at least with legs crossed--but it's not a big hindrance...The guitar features an output jack on the endpin, which is not my favorite design, but so many makers use it now my guess is that it is a lot more structurally sound than I think...

The tuners are grovers, which add a good amount of mass to the headstock. They work perfectly, definitely among the nicest tuners I've ever used.

Overall, this guitar definitely appears to be a keeper. I find it very comfortable to play, the amplified sound is excellent, and it looks great to boot.

Here's a very lightly amplified video:

I know you have always talked highly of the tele neck pickup but that Heritage sounds great-nails the jazz vibe you have going on. Congrats on what looks like a great guitar.

Congrats jazztele, very nice. I have a few Heritages, here are two of them, 575 Custom and a 535 Special. I just heard your clip on the Heritage Owners Club, you have talent for sure.

Great guitar! I sure love mine!

What I've found to work with this axe (and no other quite as well), is to set the lead PU volume & tone for use as a "rhythm" sound, for rhythm section use, to a volume just a bit louder than the loudest archtop ever made; then the middle position to a volume for comping and fills. That leaves the straight neck PU for your blowing/jazz "lead". All three settings have "jazz integrity" if you set the pots right.

The feedback from the H575 is sweet & musical. Gives you "sustain" on just about every pitch.

But you will get howling on a pitch or two when it gets too loud. Such as trying to play front-line heads with horns. Less than some other carved top jazz boxes, but still an issue.

I now use balloons; but tape is the old-timey way. Stuffing with foam is a giant hassle & irreversible.
