jebbo May 13th, 2012, 08:21 PM I'm thinking of a gig/home board and just have another one at church. I'm actualy thinking of an entire church setup and switch out guitars on the practice day. The reason for this is the fact of packing my stuff up. Sometimes people are at the alter praying and I have to get my stuff and leave. It seems rude to get on stage and pack stuff up while they're there. I don't need much of a board for church, just a tuner, chorus, and a delay. Possibly two delays, or one with tap tempo. It seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure what to do. If I'm at church with the little board, I might miss having the other pedals. That sounds rediculous, but you never know when you want to just stomp on something different for a change. Anyway, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the matter. Pics of a two board setup would be a bonus. Is anybody in the same situation as I am ?
WireLine May 13th, 2012, 09:13 PM I have two - a primary and a smaller one, for the occasional one-off and/or noodling around the house. Doesn't hurt anything. Second/backup board is literally a 1X6 painted black with a couple handles, velcro, and screw on feet to give it a better angle. Fits easy in a gig bag, sets up in 10 seconds.

He is still purchasing a few pedals, hence the blank spots, and the RV-5 will be replaced w/ a Strymon Blue Sky.
JesterR May 14th, 2012, 04:52 AM I have two. Bigger one permanently in the studio for rehearsals. Smaller one at home and for jams. Also, I have many dirt boxes, which I really like, so, I placed more modern-sounding stuff on my bigger board, and more vintage-style low-gain stuff on my home mini board.
Nub May 15th, 2012, 11:05 AM I hate carting stuff back & forth... if you play every week, it gets old REAL quick. I leave my boards (electric & acoustic) set up at church, so all I have to do is plug in my guitar & double check my settings (most of them are marked on the pedals). I leave my main & backup guitars at church, too.
I have a couple of smaller boards for use with my amps & grab-n-go stuff (I run direct at church), and they have a couple of duplicate pedals on them from my church board. A little expensive to do it that way, but to me, the convenience outweighs the cost.
jnepo1: Your boards never fail to amaze me... beautiful work!
Big_Bend May 15th, 2012, 11:19 AM I have 2 boards too... large one for the gigs, smaller one for traveling light... oh and a Boss ME-70 multifx too for when I really want to keep it simple. Highly recommended having several boards for various occasions, if you can swing it.
lefty73 May 15th, 2012, 11:59 AM Two boards, one plank o' wood here:
Recording: Replace my dirt pedals with a SansAmp Tri-A.C., keeping all other pedals as is, connect output of tremolo (last in my chain) to DI box
Live performing: Remove the SansAmp, put the dirt pedals back in, and connect to a real amp (mine or one provided by the club)
dalandan May 15th, 2012, 12:43 PM I have two. Loving it. Want to build more. :)

I always love seeing your boards, that's very nice work. I've noticed that most church players use a lot of delay and reverb. I have a tube reverb unit and I have an MXR CC aswell as a Boss DD-3. That's all the reverb delay I ever need. No tap tempo required for me.
cowie86 May 21st, 2012, 09:51 AM I have two boards even though I only ever play at home! My main board had about 7 pedals on it and was fun to mess around with but it kind of distracted me from playing. So I created a much smaller board with just: Vox V847-a wah -> Marshall GV-2 distortion -> Boss DD-7 delay -> Yamaha MagicStomp for reverbs.
Now that I'm mostly using the smaller board I find myself being a lot more productive and getting a lot more out of the 4 pedals that I'm using, instead of just being kind of overwhelmed by 7 or 8 pedals.

I've got three boards, and a little multi-effects thing that can be a 4th board.
theres a big one that I use for most gigs; then a small one that I take to practice, and another one I use for country or rockabilly.
Funny, with all that stuff, I only have one gig this summer, and for that, I'm using a Snark tuner and plugging straight into the amp.
