hello there!

browsing the internet i just found this forum. cool one by the way.
i am the sound guy at my worship service (yes i get all the blames).

right now i dont play the guitar i am learning to do it taking clases at a cultural organitation that specialize in folk music so i need tips on learning the worship way.

my worship service is the 4 chords (C,Am,G.F) Chris/hillsong , almost like the cd with out delay music.

thank you.

Bienvenido Otuel.

Welcome Otuel. To learn "the worship way" as you put it, you will probably need to earn your "2" chords - G2, C2, A2, D2, B2 and E2. Also the "sus4" for each chord and you should try to get into the delay. It is a big part of the worship sound today.

sorry to ask but that mean when the other at the band hit the normal chord i instead hit those (C2,D2...etc)

That works too, but most times the whole band would hit the 2 chord. Example: C2 = x30010 or x32033. The notes you want are CDEG. This is also called "add9" because the 2 is the same note as the 9.

if you're Steely Dan, that would be the "moo" major.

Yeah. I think they call it the "μ chord" Greek letter mu. Cute but I think 2 or add9 is more universal.

It depends on how you're whole band is doing the song and if you have a choir with you. Sometimes, you want to stay away from the options on chords. You don't want to be on a sus 4 when the choir is making a 7th. There's really nothing wrong with sticking with the basic chords. Expand where you really have to first. But LEARNING the extra chords.....sus, minor 7, major 7, will expand your ability. Don't play over your level during survice. That's what practice time is for. You'll do fine, just do what you can.

Learn your regular majors and minors first, then learn the 5 chords add 9 and sus4, sus2 chords. See what makes them add 9, sus, etc. Get some theory that way. I've seen some players just use the G5, Cadd9, Em7, and Dsus4 constantly and they are missing some voicings that are really essential. Good luck, keep at it...get away from that soundboard so someone else can take the blame! :)

thanks for the info, here i little testimony about my electric guitar:

i could not affort a electric guitar to start learning so i bought a cheap classical guitar. the person that was teaching me at that time had a Dearmond m75t laying around and he gave it to me . the guitar need some love. i changed the pots , fixed the freetboard and replace the broken bridge (i put a nice roller). then another person gave me a lil practice amp.

so there is a divine calling for me lol
