Did I buy the right bundle?

(Home, fun stuff. I'm not a pro.)
I did a fair amount of lurking before asking this. I am getting somewhat acquainted with Pro Tools MP, (oh boy) but I intend to back pedal and start with Garage Band.

The M-Audio, MobilePre interface box was in the bundled package. I noticed a fairly high audio buzz/hum when plugged into my amp. The recording is fine. I'm also considering, just mic'ing my amp. My intent is to do multitrack recording, myself playing rhythm, lead, bass and honking vocals.

My main question. Is the MobilePre sufficient for what I intend to do, or is it a lemon?

I can't speak to the whole setup, but for just guitar, I use nothing more than a Blue Yeti plugged directly into my mac via USB. Great mic for it.

This is nothing but a les paul, a blues Jr., and a Yeti into Logic

If you're struggling with your current setup, simplifying might work.

EDIT: I just noticed that you said the recording was actually ok. And I said earlier that I can't speak to the MAudio Mobile Pre... the _reason_ I said that is because I actually forgot that I have one, because I don't use it! I got one a year or so ago for a similar purpose, and had serious issues with it trying to single track, let alone multi-track. That was when I got the Yeti. Your mileage may vary.

If you get clean tracks into GarageBand you'll be fine.
