Has anyone ever tried the tone zone t pickup? How does it sound? How is compared to other t pickups like the chopper t or super distortion t? Which one would you recommend for best versatility from jazz to metal? Also looking for the best neck pickup to pair to these.

I had the Tone Zone T in my tele paired up with the area t neck. It's a very hot and mid-range type pickup. I had to dial it down as low as possible so as to match up with the neck volume. It's a great pickup for chunky overdriven stuff, but it really has minimal twang. It can nail the Billy Gibbons type tones but I don't really think you will get much in the way of jazzy style tones. I ended up removing mine and opted for the area t hot in the bridge and am much happier as far as the sweet clean tones. I can easily get jazz tones as well as dirt tones when overdriven now with the two area t's.
Hope that helps you somewhat

I would also add that if you were sticking with straight ahead R&R or Metal, the TZ is great....lots of sustain and it can easily drive an amp at lower volumes than most other pu's. It's the clean playing I found that suffered somewhat and I am more of a clean natural breakup type of player.
My TZ is actually for sale if you want to pm me

I've got one and if you coil-tap it it'll twang a bit. But I agree with Jethro, it's designed to sound like a humbucker and works great for high gain stuff.
