Confused. Whats the diff between boost and volume pedalgwjensen May 12th, 2012, 07:46 PM Kick on a boost pedal to increase volume for leads, etc., so what does a volume pedal do thats different? telebuc May 12th, 2012, 08:00 PM A volume pedal attenuates your volume from a preset maximum level. A boost pedal does what it says, it boosts the signal from its normal un-boosted level. javabirds May 12th, 2012, 08:01 PM Vol pedal is basically just another volume knob like on your guitar but on the floor. It will never put out more signal than the guitar supplies. A boost pedal amplifies the circuit slightly to increase the output. Vol pedals are good for doing lap steel like volume "swells". Just search "volume swells" on YouTube to set it done. You could do it with your guitar volume but the pedal is convenient. A boost is just sexy. Dead sexy. wbrown97 May 12th, 2012, 10:54 PM Boost pedals look like a standard stompbox and they add a set amount of volume to your tone. Volume pedals, which look like a wah pedal or an expression pedal, let you turn your guitar volume down with your foot. I'm pretty sure that with most of them they don't make your signal louder, just quieter. It's basically like your guitar volume knob controlled by an expression pedal. gwjensen May 13th, 2012, 09:24 AM I get it now. Thanks all. I have a Boss PV1 volume pedal that has a gain control and can give up to 20dB of boost. It's been on my board for over 30 years. I use a small amount of gain to make up for loss through the board. javabirds May 13th, 2012, 04:19 PM True. My Mutron Vol-wah also had a buffer/boost. |
