I use a wampler paisley drive and I want to leave it on all the time. So I want a boost for lead stuff however I don't know what i want so I would love a few opinions. Im looking at either a keeley katana, gmd time bomb boost, xotic ep booster, or a byoc triboost. What's your experience with these???

I like the EP Booster and use one. But it's primarily a clean booster that adds a little something like a slight chorus affect that sounds great. However, I would look at the RC Booster (which I also have) that is a bit more versatile with regard to tone shaping and amount of gain / dirt you want to add to your boost. No experience with the others.

JHS has a few, too, that are supposed to be good.

I built the "Alembic Stratoblaster Boost" from General Guitar Gadgets. Great first time build if you feel like getting into/are already into that. I love the pedal and use it all of the time in front of my distortion, old Kay amp, etc. $38 plus shipping is obviously awesome too.

This may not be the direction you want to go, but I'm currently using the Fulltone FullDrive2 the way you're describing and it's working beautifully for me. In my opinion, it's an extremely versatile, great sounding overdrive PLUS booster in one unit. It can add a little hair for country to rock or be a real screamer. The boost does what it's named and then some. It can take the overdrive you want and cut you through the mix or it simply can drive the front end of your amp harder for natural distortion like the classics. What I like most is that the 1st "overdrive" section has three settings: CompCut, Flat Mids and Vintage. To me, they seem to change the gain structure, a little EQ and more importantly the feel of the overdrive. The 2nd "boost" section also has two settings: MOSFET and Standard. They seem to affect gain structure, EQ and feel too. To me, either the overdrive or boost sections could stand on their own as separate pedals. Together they're indispensable. There are some great demos on YouTube.

I had one for a week or two. They're good but not my thing

I have experience with the EP and RC from Xotic

I like the EP for a bigger sound from your original tone and the RC for a more trebley tone with added mids and bass.

It doesn't add a chorus effect. It does color the sound (presence & low mids) yet there is absolutely no modulation.

I use a JHS Klon along side the Paisley Drive. I'll either use it as a boost or when the Paisley Drive is off, it's a great low drive.

I can only speak for the Seymour Duncan SFX 01 Pickup booster, cheap and gorgeous pedal!! Works pretty well with tellys and clean pickups to fat them up!!

I love my EP Booster. Sometimes I use it as a boost, sometimes it stays on to fatten up my tone.

i went with the ep boost. found a deal on one. i think i will end up with a tweed 57 for my dirt and leave the ep on all the time eventually and use my paisley for leads. thats the plan at the moment...

I've started running an EP Booster into my pedals. OD's that were "blah" before are great now. The best part is, it can really open up a dirt pedal without adding too much volume.

The BBE Bosta Grande is a good clean boost. I recently bought an original Bad Bob and it sounds great but adds more grit than the Boosta Grande.
