Show off your (old) sleeper pedals

Start you all off with a DOD performer 585a, which I don't know much about, except that it's an analog pedal from the early 80's. the silver sticker on the bottom says "patent applied for," but I don't know what the patent is. cool stuff though.

Yes, I really did get it for $5. goodwill is a surprising place sometimes. 18v power supply:

Guts:

The black and red wires leading off lead to two 9v batteries. I will get a power supply soon. Closer guts:

So that's that. I may have something else soon, but for now, you guys show me what you got!

More DOD! These things still work, on a good day. And, oh yeah, an EHX as well.

Nice! what kind of switch do your dod pedals have? the switch on my delay works... but only if you press in the right spot. It doesn't depress as much as a normal pedal either, which I don't like...

Mine's probably my old DOD FX65 stereo chorus.

Here's a pic of one I found online. I'll post pics of mine later.

This thread will have to be renamed 'show off your (old) DODs'.

The switches are OK, by which I mean they still work. But they are horrible things! I haven't plugged them in for a few months, I should dust them off for another try.

The switches on these are definately the weakest link. I owned an old Mosfet preamp that would get stuck either on or off for weeks at a time. I loved the pedal though, almost as much as the peice of **it that stole it from me.

You're right about the switches. I've thought about replacing it, but I'm worried about space...

and once I get home, it won't be a DOD thread anymore. I've got something up my sleeve that's a rare one for sure (I think)...a green pedal from the 80's... but it's a secret!

I just discovered this exact same model and year. Its my univibe/ leslie sound. Or what I call my "I don't come easy" pedal. I love mine.

Years ago, I bought a box of pedals when a guitar repairman was down-sizing.
Might've paid $50 for the lot. It included a Uni-Vibe, Mu-Tron III, various cool fuzz boxes, a German Tremolo pedal, wahs, optical Volume pedals- over a dozen different items. Most worked after some basic cleaning and re-soldering battery wires.
I wish that I'd kept them, but I still have a few left, including this Guyatone Sustainer. It goes from a nice boost to ridiculous fuzz that will peel paint when dimed.

Funny thing is that the original 80s manual recommended balancing the speed and depth knobs so that if one was up, the other was down, so as to avoid "an unpleasant warbly 'out of tune' sound," which now seems to be the hidden gem in these pedals. Warble and vibe pedals go for hundreds to make this same sound.

There's a great demo of it here - achieving the exact same effect you are:

I haven't actually gigged with mine in years - need to dust it off and throw it on the "board" for a little while.

I bought this over 20 years ago new ($99), and it's still a great delay. KMD Analog MIJ, which also has a very useful tone pot that acts like a treble boost. Really makes a little Pignose sound great, and for any amp has a great analog delay sound. Has stereo outputs as well.

keep 'em coming! These are awesome pedals. not much of a chorus guy, but that guyatone sustainer looks like a mean fuzz copy.

So that's how they got that sound on "Saint Joe and the schoolbus"!!!!
Awesome!

Damn, this reminds me I used to have one of the DOD 670 orange flangers, mains powered. I've moved house so many times since then I have no idea where it is :-(

The annual Run Of The Lemmings (clearout of college students) pays off again--yesterday I picked up a HUSH IICX noise reduction for $5.99 at the Salvation Army. Works fine, the pots don't even need cleaned/Users/shawnrafferty/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Originals/2012/May 12, 2012/P5120021.JPG

I would guess this qualifies as a "sleeper":
an Ibanez sonic distortion (SD9) the bigger brother to the ts9. these fell by the wayside as the ts9's and ts808's gained popularity thanks to srv.

this one I have is in really good condition, and works pretty much flawlessly

EDIT: this was another goodwill buy, same time as the dod 585a. It was a great day!

This is my all "2" version Boss board. TU-2 --> PH-2 --> MIJ HM-2 --> MIJ DSD-2. I have a larger board but I am using this one the most lately.

I have one of these pedals. I was quite surprised at the quality of delay. I haven't heard too much about them. I would use it more, but my tc flashback just suits me a little better. I recently put it up for auction, in hopes of raising some cash for a new amp. I might have to hold on to it a little longer.

I got this DOD fx60 on eBay recently. I have had several analog chorus pedals, many which cost "boutique" prices. This pedal surpassed them all! I can't believe this pedal doesn't gain more attention. .

I have yet to try a DOD chorus, and I will, if I ever get rid of my Roland JC-77, which has excellent stereo chorus.

One pedal I'm really hoping to get my hands on is the DOD fx17 vol/wah, which has accessible trim pots :twisted::twisted:
