Gibson Bigsby

So I bought a guitar I have never tried - or even seen in the flesh!

I ordered in a Gibson Traditional Les Paul Bigsby. I'm not a huge humbucker fan, and I confess I've never even had this thing in my hands. So why did I order it? GAS. Pure and simple. I'll pick it up Friday and take it for a spin Friday night during a jam. Probably straight into my '68 Twin Reverb.

Anyone have any experience with these? Has Gibson cleaned up their dismal "Fit and Finish" issues they struggled with for a while there? Anyone have any experience with the B-70 Bigsby as opposed to the B-7? Any input is of course welcome and appreciated...

Can you return the gibby if you don't like it? Does it already have the bigsby installed? I've got a b70 on my dot but if you're already going full out on a gibson then pay the extra for the B7. Having said that the B70 can be just as good, the B7 tends to feel 'spongier' but that can be changed by changing the spring, personally i like the stiffer spring for quicker response, also the B7 is sand casted so it has 'softer' edges while the B70 is machined. Both great quality, and to me now both a necessity on every guitar, they're addictive! As for gibsons quality, honestly I find epiphone to have better quality control I haven't been too happy with gibson and that's why I couldn't justify paying extra but I know when I find the one it'll be perfect, and maybe this one will be your one too :)

Also keep in mind the ebony finishes are done in a separate spraying booth so in general they get a lil extra treatment.

That's the guitar I've been lusting after. I've got it all planned out- humbuckers replaced with bucker-sized P90's, replace 70 w/7, silver paint on the pick guard, then drag it behind my truck on a gravel road.
B70- machined, Asia
B7- sand cast, USA

Those are awesome guitars.

Be prepared, though - they are not factory fitted with stopbar bushings. They only have the thumbwheel post holes for the bridge.

That's pure Bigsby, baby - no goin' back.
