What's your apporach to setting tone when you have amp, guitar and EQ pedal tone controls (we can leave out the tone controls on other pedals for now)?

Guitar volume & tone full on and then levels with the amp.

Throw eq pedal in the closet, dime everything, & play Highway to Hell, Stranglehold, or Just Got Paid.

Amp: Tone at noon. Volume is set at the point where the amp is clean while the guitar is played normally but dirty when you dig in.

Guitar: Everything full up. Adjust as needed while playing.

When using an EQ pedal to make it easier to switch between guitars (say Tele and LP), do you set the amp for one and the EQ for the other? Better to set the amp for the one where you use the EQ to reduce frequencies rather than boost? Though it seems you might reduce highs and add lows for a Tele and do the opposite for a Les Paul.

To get to my settings, I typically dime the guitar tone knobs and then adjust the amp to where the higher frequencies just start to really get on my nerves. I have only really ever used an EQ pedal as a boost with a bit of a mid hump.

If I was going to try and use an EQ pedal for guitar switching, I'd decide which guitar sounded best straight into the amp. Then I'd plug in the other one and adjust the frequencies all equally up or down to get to the same level. Then I'd tweak them a little bit to adjust for the differences.

Like, if you decide the Tele sounds the best on it's own with the amp, then lower all the sliders just a tiny bit to adjust for the louder Les Paul, and then maybe bring up the higher frequencies to brighten it up a little bit.
