schenkadere May 8th, 2012, 08:27 PM Aside from the tasteless and ugly graphics this is a great pedal. I saw it for $99 on clearance at Sam Ash, so had to bite. I thought having the two delay settings would be handy although I had the Gen 5 Echo at GC on my hit list. The price swayed me.
Nice warm repeats, well made...wish it wasn't ugly and that there were 2 mix and/or level controls, but overall I'm happy with the purchase. sounds really sweet clean with some comp and equally good with dirt. I set the 1st delay at a semi-reverbish sound and the 2nd longer for lead work...very handy. More control would be nice, but it works well enough and really sounds great.
I had a lot of trouble stripping the rubber off the back...I just couldn't get the whole thing down to paint. They must use some sort of nuclear, toxic glue in China. Has anyone else had a problem with the backing on the BBE pedals? What a pain in the butt!
bossking7 May 8th, 2012, 08:37 PM Cool! I saw one on craigslist for $80, sounds like a cool pedal, I shouldve picked one up. Congrats!
Burnt Gerbil May 8th, 2012, 09:35 PM I ordered one of these from amazon for $111 the other day for my in-progress "bare-essentials, mini-board". But, like an idiot, I chose free shipping so I probably won't have it for a month. Glad to hear you like it, I'm planning to set mine pretty much the same way you described.
tweedtone May 8th, 2012, 09:43 PM A can of Krylon will fix the ugly. I think the graphics are retro/funny myself.
I have one and like it OK, just wish it had dual mix/repeat controls.
Dr. Pants May 8th, 2012, 10:07 PM I wonder if there's a way to drill for and add the necessary
pot(s) to allow for that additional control.
11 Gauge May 8th, 2012, 10:08 PM ...the tasteless and ugly graphics...
I really don't typically care about stuff like that, but I have a 9 year old daughter who periodically asks me what the pedal name signifies. And since she is big into cartoons, she took a good long look at the image on the pedal. I forget what my sorry response was to her.
I got a Joyo (makes pedals for BBE) pedal recently that had flaming skull and crossbones on it, and I just couldn't stand it, so it got the hammertone job...the Two Timer will as well, but I got it in the winter and didn't want to mess with any kind of refinishing.

I wish the delay times were a little longer, but I have other analog delays for that. I like how the TT is even more on the dark side with repeats, because the level can be cranked higher without it overwhelming things. It seems to really mate well with higher gain dirt boxes - I have both digital and analog delays that don't work as well as it does.
But having two analog delay times in one pedal that was around a C-note (I think I got mine from Amazon for $95 or something) makes it kind of hard to complain (except for the graphics - what were they thinking?)

That's the way I felt...for $100 it's a pretty good bang for the buck. It really adds something to your tone without being too dark and murky.
Did you have any trouble getting that rubber backing off? Man, I had to scrape it with a razor blade and still didn't get it all. I just made it as close to the surface as I could so the velcro would be relatively flat and stick properly.
schenkadere May 9th, 2012, 11:59 AM Curious...is the delay "channel" light supposed to always be on even when the pedal is engaged or not? I have mine powered with a one spot so I've been flipping that off when done playing.
Dr. Pants May 9th, 2012, 02:37 PM Well, seeing as how .011 didn't take the bait,
that must be a "No"
zombiwoof May 9th, 2012, 03:05 PM I remember when the first BBE pedals came out, the rubber pads on the bottom of the pedals had the opposite problem, the glue would come unstuck very easily, and leak out around the edges of the pad. I've noticed that they fixed that problem on the newer pedals, I guess they went overboard in fixing the problem.
I love my Two-Timer, it's based on the Boss DM2 and I think has about the same max delay time as that pedal. I use an old Ibanez digital delay for longer delays, those Ibanez digital delays had a sound that was quite analog-like, moreso than other digital delays I've tried.

schenkadere May 9th, 2012, 03:21 PM Just looked at a video on the BBE website...it's supposed to stay on.

Yes...I love the Ibanez 10 series DL10 digital delay...one of my all time fav pedals...along with the SC10 chorus.
That rubber bottom was like it was baked on...with goo remover to break up the glue and a new razor blade, there's still rubber embedded on there...never saw anything like it...took me nearly an hour before I gave up and slapped the velcro on.
