Hi guys,
I recently had to do some traveling with my Seagull S6 and of course, being May in the Midwest, it's been raining all week. I kept the guitar loosely in a soft case while I was outside in moderate rain but unfortunately when I opened it up after getting inside, I found that the wood was pretty damp. I checked the back of the rosewood and neck and found a few dark spots. I'm hoping that this isn't permanent water damage. You guys can take a look for yourself and decide.
So, am I screwed or just overreacting to something that will cause little to no harm retrospectively?
Thanks.

A seagull with water damage?  There's a joke in there somewhere!
Okay, sorry, I don't mean to make light of you pain, but the thread title just struck me as too funny. Seriously, I hope it turns out okay for you. Are you concerned about the finish being marred, or worse?

It is hopefully only water damage to the finish = cloudiness/bad 'haze', maybe not permanent but could be. Not a happy thing but lots better than significant rain inside the guitar.
I'd slowly dry it by leaving it out in a room. Don't rush it, no heat gun or anything. It may take some time & while you're waiting call a good repair shop if you have one around.
Dry that soft case & if it's foam lined, maybe just jettison it. Good luck, probably still gonna be a fine playable guitar & thinking any damage at least on the back only?

As somebody suggested I would let it slowly dry out and keep an eye on it. If the wood as swelled it can make the neck inky or result in bellying up/ rippling of the top or back. Doe snot mean it will happen - just that it could happen. Your Seagull has laminate back and sides though which I would thinks is less likely to be effected by an adundance of moisture than solid wood.

Let it dry on a stand.
Good news is that nothing is warping or splitting or seperating.
The body would be far more sensitive.
It's an unknown now....you need to wait but I think it will be ok. You got water on one of the tougher parts of the guitar (in regards to water damage).
Was the bag soaked that the neck got so wet?
It must have been really soaked.
I think you'll be ok.
