Hi,

I'm wondering what the anode side of this diode is. It's a 1n34a I'm using for an orange squeezer and a klone. I can just assume that the side with the lines is the cathode but I'd rather be sure, and there is some black paint on the other side as well. not sure what that is supposed to mean. Sorry. I'm a noob. I've built a tube amp but this is my first pedal.

You are correct. The side with the stripe is the cathode (-).
