I take no pleasure in how this fantastic guitar became available since the original owner had some medical issues that forced it's sale. A classy person and a very good guitar player. Nevertheless it is a fantastic one-off that the previous owner described as the prototype for Fritz Bros. Roy Buchanan model.
I share it here because it is such a unique and beautiful guitar.

Very cool! I've seen this on Craigslist for weeks now along with his (ahem, modded) '63 Strat.
Feel bad when I read all of his listings mentioning health problems. Kinda freaks me out too.

What part "freaks you out"? I just took this away from the whole deal: you never know what kind of hand life's going to deal you on any particular day. Live it up.
I feel fortunate to have met him and doubly fortunate to have a couple pieces of his gear.

Right. The freak out being a musician who likely (maybe not) has sub par health care and needing to pawn his guitars. It's a tough life, indeed.

Tough life indeed, even without health problems.
The guitar has a 5-way selector switch, push-pull, 3 P-90s, figured maple (birdseye) neck with no stripe, triple binding and 22 frets. Really nice looking checking in the nitro-cel finish with a couple of rub worn areas on the back.
Just a great looking, great sounding guitar.

pretty guitar, love the color and the binding, I generally don't like double cut away Tele style bodies, but that one looks nice, I bet it sounds great with the P90s.

Thanks Ringo. The color is even better in person because of the nitro checking in the finish. It really is a neat guitar in so many ways.
If anyone knows much about the Fritz Bros. stuff please chime in!

Can we say that this started as a regular Tele set-up and has had several changes made?

I guess one can say just about anything. The previous owner told me that Roger Fritz made this for him, so I'm going to go with that.
I doubt it started like a regular Tele in the traditional sense anyway since the body itself is remarkably different than the classic Telecaster. I'm fairly certain the Fritz Bros. built it as is and the last owner played it as is for it's whole life.
