my new CC rider pkupklasaine May 6th, 2012, 09:03 PM in a Tele of course (some Neil for ya) ... MPTn3mHGRqY jbdrumbo May 7th, 2012, 02:29 AM Great sound you're getting from the CC, Ken. And your playing is obviously superb - but no big surprise there. I couldn't hear any hum on the video - how quiet is the CC Rider, compared to a good P90, for instance? Also, I have a T,T,T & T question: What Frisell style chord permutation are you using for letting the phrase endings hang semi-resolved? Lovely! boneyguy May 7th, 2012, 03:06 AM I swear it was just in the last couple of days I was thinking how great it would be to hear your CC neck pickup. Thanks for reading my thoughts. I appreciate that. It saves me the trouble of having to actually ask. Nice arrangement Ken. Derek Kiernan May 7th, 2012, 03:25 AM Nice playing! I dig the tone too. klasaine May 7th, 2012, 12:06 PM I couldn't hear any hum on the video - how quiet is the CC Rider, compared to a good P90, for instance? Also, I have a T,T,T & T question: What Frisell style chord permutation are you using for letting the phrase endings hang semi-resolved? Lovely! It's about the same as a normal output P90. By their design a CC is a slightly hotter pkup so yeah, there's some 60 cycle that you'll get. I found the spot in the room (and oriented perpendicular to the amp) where I was quietest. What I've discovered now in gigging with that guitar is that if the power is really dirty at the bar or club (neon, blenders, espresso machine, etc.) it'll bug you coming through the axe (or at least it bugs me). I shielded the cavity and the underside of the pk guard with copper tape and paint - that helped a lot. *You'll notice that most of the player vids and manufacturer's sites 'mention' some 60 cycle hum with their CCs - they're not lying:wink:. As for the semi-resolved chords ... I'm not positive exactly which ones you're referring too. Neil Young actually ends several of the phrases on the IV chord (he even ends the tune on IV). I am using some long delay and you might be hearing a previous note or two 'hang' over(?). Make a timing note from the vid and I'll tell ya the exact voicing. And thanks for the kind words all. jbdrumbo May 7th, 2012, 02:18 PM It's about the same as a normal output P90. What's the chord, for instance, at 2:26? Although I can tell now that I lot of the dissonance I was hearing last night was due to the delay, and my hearing inaccuracy  after a long day of gigging. klasaine May 7th, 2012, 02:34 PM What's the chord, for instance, at 2:26? Bbmaj7#11 (going to an Fmaj7#11 - which is Neils w/the melody). jbdrumbo May 7th, 2012, 10:55 PM Thanks. slowpinky May 7th, 2012, 11:52 PM Nice man. |
