Finishing Ash Body

Hey all,

I am new to finishing guitar and have just finished my 3 piece ash body with a Maple/Rosewood neck, however I am completely inexperienced in the finishing process and have no knowledge what so ever could someone kindly tell me the steps for example sanding with 220 grit or lower (as ive read from other sites) and the grain filling, keep reading about the grain filling that you have to do it more than once.

Please could someone tell me how I could achieve this.

Also in regards to the neck how do I go on about finishing that?

Im going to be going to a DIY shop tommorow to buy the things I need so a list of what I need would be perfect

I know these seem dummy questions but answers to these would be a really big help and much appreciated thank you
