I picked this little nylon string up for a song and dance. It's in perfect structural shape. It's a Silvertone. Could anyone help me identify the model. I know it was part of a series.

The gentleman I spoke too thought it was a Roy Rogers guitar. voodoostation May 4th, 2012, 06:05 PM Good score! GuitarHack May 4th, 2012, 06:08 PM Good score! Thanks it was on sale 25% off and I offered them half of the sale price, so I came off of this one smelling like roses. Twang Factor 10 May 4th, 2012, 06:43 PM Cool find! My grandpa had something like this when I was just little. He drove a garbage truck for the city, so I think he dug it out of the trash. I believe it was a Gene Autry guitar. I have heard that the Roy Rogers and Gene Autry guitars are some what valuable. I would also find out about these guitars and if someone else has any pics of theirs. Thanks GuitarHack for dusting off some of these memories. Is it being too nosy to ask how mush you paid? GuitarHack May 4th, 2012, 06:54 PM Cool find! Thanks GuitarHack for dusting off some of these memories. Is it being too nosy to ask how mush you paid? Not nosy at all. It was 50$ after tax. When I bought it I was told that it is rare and collectible. I said "That's too bad because I'm gonna' play the heck out of this thing, not collect it." Twang Factor 10 May 4th, 2012, 07:27 PM I don't know what happened to the one grandpa had. He brought in a cheap Hummingbird copy and gave to me. The bridge kept coming unglued, hence why it was in the dump. I gave it a very bad Buck Owens paint job. Red, Chrome in a Can and Blue. I think I ended up smashing it because I thought that was cool at the time. I have you checked ebay? The is a Roy Rogers on there that is kinda like the one I remember. And don't feel bad about smashing the guitar. I think every legitimate guitar player has to smash at least one junky guitar. GuitarHack May 4th, 2012, 07:38 PM The one on eBay is the Harmony steel string version. I think the asking price for that is way too much. I don't really care to find the value. If I ever decide to sell it, I'll probably just try to get what I paid for it and give someone else an incredible deal. |
