advice on looper setup, boomerang III + mic + acoustic + pedals

Hey all... Hope this is the right place to post this.

I'm getting a boomerang iii pretty soon, and I want to set it up so I can run my acoustic (w/ passive pickups) and an SM57 together, through my pedals (a delay, overdrive and env. filter), and then into the looper and finally amp.

From the research I've done so far, it seems like a good way to go is to get a small mixer and run the mic and guitar through that and then into my pedals->looper->amp.

But I really would like to avoid the mixer, if possible, for budget reasons (although I will certainly make the stretch if recommended).

1. Is it a good idea to run the guitar and mic through the LLS or HE and use a Y cable out of that into my pedals and then amp, or is that going to cause issues that I may be unaware of? Is there a more efficient way that you would recommend?

2. line level shifter or hum eliminator (http://www.ebtechaudio.com/products.html)? Seems like the LLS2XLR has HE built in.

3. I have a nice heavy duty keyboard amp. Would you recommend using a KB amp for such a project, or will my small tube combo suffice?

Would appreciate any feedback on this... as you may notice, I'm quite the noob to amplification. Will update this as I find out what works... it seems like a fairly common set of questions with little info on the web.

Thank you.

Are you planning to record something?

Assuming you are, what's the mic for? Are you mixing mic'd and pickup output from the guitar? A mixer would give you better control over that balance. Plus, if you are recording, you could get a mixer with a USB output to go direct to the computer, and you could put the effects on a separate channel/track, so you could adjust wet/dry later. Can save a lot retakes to get the effect level right.

I would just get a good quality DI with ground lift for the guitar pickup. I don't think the LLS is anything other than that. You shouldn't need a hum eliminator if you have that.

I am planning on recording, but my question is more about setting up a simple platform for on-the-fly one-man-band type performance.

The mic is for vocals, processed through pedals, and looped by the looper.

I will look into your suggestion on DIs. Thanks.

Get the mixer. Even live you can apply what "sill_fiddlin" said to live performance.

I once saw someone use a Line 6 Variax, a looper and a laptop. He would create rhythm and bass patterns with the Variax and loop them. The Laptop provided his original backing (mostly drums and percussion) and effects processing. Vocals went through the laptop also using another set of effects. Both went from a mixer into the PA and it sounded really good.

He obviously knew what he was doing. And obviously it was a while ago because I can’t remember much else. It was way more eleborate then say Atom And His Package

i do that stuff, i use a rang3, i run acoustic, microphone, bass guitar, keyboard all through a mixer and i use a cheap little behringer mixer for it.. it works ok.. i run all that stuff into one side of the rang and out to a small PA... and use the other side of the Rang for an electric guitar, pedals, etc.. into a guitar amplifier

i also plan to set up a live acoustic rig using the boomerang. i was hoping to use a pair of microphones only. i use a giannini classical guitar with no pickup, so the plan is to run the mics into the mixer. from the mixer to the boomerang.. from the boomerang to a yamaha msr 400 powered speaker. my application would be to play a loop with a chord progression or bassline... and play the melody on top. i wasn't sure this was possible until now. would this work well?
