Ok, here's the deal, I have an 86' AVRI Strat... oops, I mean Tele. The body was really the only thing I started with. (CAR but much of the gold is showing, it's got character) The hardware is correct, but not original, and pickups are Fralins. I "built" it about 12 years ago and it's really special to me. I had a 96' Clapton neck (also had a colorful past) on it forever but recently sold it and put a boatneck Warmoth on. Anyway, I wound up "relicing" the new neck so that it would match the body, but it just doesn't seem right somehow. I don't care what other people think, I just think I killed its mojo for me. I probably should have never monkeyed with it. I really don't like relics, but just thought a new neck would look weird. I'd like to just hold out for a correct Fender neck for it, but I really love the boatneck. Maybe I'll just get another neck, finish it in nitro, and play it for another 12 years and it'll eventually match the body. Maybe I should just get over it, and move past it... anyone else have a weird "mojo" issue? My other guitars are strictly utilitarian and I like it that way... this one is just special to me because its the closest ill probably get to vintage so maybe thats why its an issue for me...... it's kind of like me throwing IFS and fuel injection on my 30' model A and trying to make it match the old school vibe of the rest of it. Thoughts? am I just crazy?
