OK... I'll start... even though we are a Tele forum, the only guitar that has stood the test of time for me, is my '81 LP Custom. I bought it brand new, in January of 1982.

31 years and counting.

I am hoping that my new 60th BGB will last as long, even if I don't <sigh>

Not the most expensive or most beautiful, but the one I'd save from a burning building is this Ibby Roadstar II RS135. I like the way it sounds and the way the neck feels, and it was given to me about 25 years ago by a dearly departed friend.

My 62 Strat. Played from 1968 to just recently. I sold it on, as I couldn't justify hanging on to it any longer, considering what it was worth and the fact that I never play it anymore. I got an excellent price for it, and the guy that bought it was overjoyed to have it, so hopefully, it'll get played a lot more.

my old '78 Ibanez has had some use.. another one for the old Ibanez club..

and the '91 strat I've had for 15yrs mabye?.. and well played when I got it.. I thought it was much older by it's looks... salt air ages guitars prematurely it would appear ...:roll:

since the teles arrived, a few short years ago, they don't get a lot of use these days..:wink:

2 Martins. The D15 (right) is 16 years old. The OM16GT (center) is 14 years old.

This is a cool idea. Here's my two longest standing electrics. "Nelly" my 80's Squier, and "BlackJack", my parts Tele both sitting on top of my old AMI/Rowe Jukebox. I've had Nelly for about 26 or 27 years. Blackjack has been evolving since around 1996.

1985 Guild D35
Bought it brand new off the showroom floor in 85. All those scars are mine. We've made a lot of music together over the last 25+ years. New frets and a reset bridge in 02. Got a Barcus in it.
The ol boy sounds Great! Through a 67 PR with a EQ, a chorus, and a BD2, it's a really big sound. Love it!

All these old guitars looking all prestine and pretty and Mint. Makes me wonder, do they get played? With Passion? Ain't no doubt about mine. This is one very well loved guitar. Different strokes for sure!

I tend to have evolving interests, so it's unusual for me to hold on to anything that long, although I still have the one and only new car I have ever owned, bought new in a fit of flush ness, yep 10 years ago.

I also have a trumpet or two that has stuck around, but guitars are just so varied, that it's difficult to settle on just one, and in 700square feet, you can only have so many...

Well, this is a Synchromatic Gretsch made in Korea. Sorry I don't have a better pic of it.

I bought it for $70 at a pawn shop in Oklahoma in 2001. It's a little parlor-sized acoustic. Plays and sounds really nice for an offshore cheapie.

Everyone in my family plays this guitar, and my daughters have used it to learn some chords and a few riffs on.

I had some other guitars and basses that I'd owned more than 10 years, but they got destroyed in a flood last year.

It makes me feel old that 21st century guitar purchases qualify for this thread...

I've had my Deering banjo since '96, my Hohner mandolin since '87, but if you're limiting it to guitars, the oldest still in use are my Danelectros. The MOD 7 is from '01 or '02, but this '65 Convertible I've been playing since I bought it in '85:

Two of them have more than 10 years.

I've been playing this since my parents bought it for me new in 1969.

69 Guild Studio 302 ch (hoboken). Technically, I haven't played for the last 10 years because I just gave up playing from about 1978 to 2008 when it sat in a case under my bed (literally).

i don't have a picture of mine.. a seagull s6 cedar plus that i bought a dozen or so years ago. my son recently commandeered it ...which is fine ... it keeps him playing ... problem is i now need to buy another acoustic

L-R: the Purple Partscaster is the youngest- I assembled it in the mid '80s; mid '60s Magnatone Typhoon, I bought it in the early '80s; 1965 Teisco TRG-2L autographed for me by David Lindley in the late '80s; 1962 Fender Jazzmaster, I bought it in 1977.

I've had this telly since new, a gift from my dad at Christmas 1984... I don't play it out much anymore, since I'm afraid I'm going to completely wear it out, but I absolutely love this guitar to pieces, and record with it frequently.. all dings and wear are mine, so I have no one else to blame!!! I've got a couple others that have been around a while, but alas, no pics...

Here is my contribution, a Sigma DM5s. I bought her used 1984. I believe she was made before 1978, but I'm not sure.

Still going strong, even though some frets are quite worn...

I bought this ESP LTD Viper 301 nearly eleven years ago in the summer of 2001 before all of it hit the fan. In 2005 I had my wife paint over all the damage and scratches. It's still my main guitar today.

Other than that, I had a nylon string from 1976 until 1985 but all other sixty some odd guitars I have had for very short times since I used to collect and trade a lot.

Been playing my sheraton most days for 16 years.
Had my crappy lp style guitar since I started playing 18 years ago(although it's only used for slide now).

28 years on my 83 Ibanez AM 205.

I have had GAS over an Ibanez AM93 for sometime now and it's one I haven't even played yet. For $550 street price a semi-hollowbody with Custom 58 pickups in them!

Like a revolving door over here - guitars come in and go out but this thing always remains.

Bought it in the late 80's.

40's Chicago (Orpheum ?) archtop. Was my only guitar for a few years and I learned a lot on it.

Gets a big crack in the back in the winter and closes up by summer.

I've been admiring the AM 93 as well. Sweet guitars.

So Cal near the end of '82 from a dealer friend of mine. I got to go right to the Factory in Fullerton and pick it up. It originally had a white pickguard but I've modified it over the years. Here are some shots of it as it looks today and it's still my number one and always will be...........JH in Va.
