Hey guys I have been "Reading about" delay pedals, and I am completely ignorant about them honestly...

BACK GROUND:

The music styles I like are Blues, Classic Rock, Rockabilly, Traditional Country, and Good Heavy Metal.

The music style I have been playing for the past 4 years is Modern Contemporary Christian with all that U2 type delay... (NOT A U2 FAN) My set up was a Tube Amp, 3 Over Drives and "Very Sparingly" a Chorus Pedal. . . I made it work and ppl enjoyed it "Palm muting and good rhythm go a long ways"

QUESTION:
I know not everyone that has a Delay Pedal is a U2 fan and plays U2 type music especially in TDPRI.

So man, Can ya list me some of the types of music I like that use delay and how they use it? I know it is a GREAT tool because so many ppl using it, I am just ignorant on how to, when to, where at, it should be used?

Thanks for taking the time... I just wanna get better and more educated in playing Guitar.

Rockabilly - Slapback delay - everyone and their mother
Classic Rock - Queen - Brian May was the greatest user of delay ever!
Heavy Metal - Just about every lead break has some delay on it for airiness.
Traditional country (See Rockabilly)

You will find delay just about everywhere. Heck, even Larry Carlton always has a delay in his rack and his tone is pretty straight forward. Personally, I dig the delay tones that Steve Lukather and Allan Holdsworth use.
