So long, Classic 30

This past weekend I parted ways with my Peavey Classic 30. It was primarily a financial decision, but I also felt like the amp was a caged bird: as I'm not currently in a band, I'm not gigging with it. Plus, I seldom get to crank it at home. It deserves better, by golly.

As fortune would have it, the amp was purchased by none other than one of my favorite musicians, Ward Hayden, lead singer/rhythm guitarist from Girls Guns and Glory. He came by my house to try it out and we talked guitars and gear for a solid hour. He's a genuinely great guy.

It's always sad to see a great piece of gear go, but it really helps dull the pain knowing that it's going to be put to good use. In this case, I couldn't have asked for a better circumstance.

thats a better way to end it, true.

I once had to sell a guitar on CL when I needed $$ and the guy who showed up to buy it had been running FOH sound for James Brown right up until the day he died. That made it kinda cool in a way. Plus, he brought cash and didn't try to low ball me either!

You gotta do what you gotta do. Every thing is replaceable the way I figure it.
Case in point, I just replaced my Ti Litespeed I sold in 2002, yeah it took a while.
Like you, I was not using the one I sold in 2002 for the intended purpose, so looking at it sit was silly. Now I am head back toward that purpose and will use the replacement. You will also if you need another amp when and if I'd bet.

I am thinking about selling my Rat Tweed Classic 50 and just keep the Brow Pro as the pro will go up in value being at a 20 year low right now.

What do I ask for it, it has an Alnico Blue/G12H-30 speaker upgrade gong for it? Probably better off selling the speaker separately??

Girl's, Guns and Glory. That's a pretty decent sounding band there. I'm hearing just a trace of Dwight Yokum influence..more like a ton.

Sorry about losing your amp, but at least it's not in the possession of a 7th grader painted some stupid skulls on it.

It can maintain its dignity with these folks.

The Classic 30 will always be my first real amp. Tis a shame you have to let her go but I agree with you on the caged bird sentiments.
