I've gotten it into my mind that I really want a double muff, for some reason or another. I already have a Germanium big muff (od/dist double pedal) which is my main dirt pedal now. Would a DM really add much to my sound, or should I look elsewhere?

Have you ever played thru one? I have tried one out using a Strat into an Super Reverb (just at quiet volume) and even in double muff mode (where the two Muff fuzzes cascade into each other and the Muff #1 control now becomes the "master volume" control...) the guitar cleanup was fantastic! Muff #1 was clean>dirty OD, and both ON was clean> dirty> fuzz
* Have heard that a DM should run 1st in line (BTW)

Yeah, ive tried it out at a store, but with a different guitar/amp and I didn't have the Germanium BM there for comparison. I think I've convinced myself I need it, but are the 2 pedals similar enough that I should get something else instead?

Double Muff is a permanent on my board. It works well feeding my BD-2 and still cleans up fantastically on the guitar volume even with BD on. It has the added bonus of keeping the treble in the signal when you roll the volume back, as if it's working like a treble bleed on your vol control! No experience with the Germanum 4 I'm affraid but I'd think the two would be sufficently different in sound. In single mode the D-Muff is more like a dirty boost pedal!
