"Refinish" a pedal with duct tape?

I just got a Joyo Ultimate Drive and pretty much hate the paintjob. Creeps me out a bit

Anyhow, seeing as how I don't really have the time or desire to spend money on actual painting supplies and also since I have quite a stash of colorful duct tape available, I was thinking about doing some duct tape art on the pedal enclosure right on top of the pre-existing paint.

Has anyone ever tried something of this nature? Is it worth putting clear coat or something on top of the tape?

Thanks in advance. BTW, I'm a TDPRI semi-lurker (joined but never posted much) who is a regular over on Strat-Talk, so a shout out to anyone here who is also a regular there!

You could also just sand the top down to bare aluminum.

I thought of that but figured it would probably look nicer if I put something on it. My sanding job would probably have been rather sloppy :P

I've never seen a duct tape finish on a pedal, but Ibanez had a duct tape Talman that they released a while back. I think it was Noodle's signature model (from the Offspring). I think the same finish would look pretty cool on a pedal.

I remember reading a tiny bit how they did the finish, there's definitely a clear coat of poly over the duct tape, AND, I think they sprayed some black who-knows-what (probably more poly) on it and then wiped it back off to accentuate the texture of the duct tape even more.

So I did it with duct tape. Pretty simple, a little rough, but that's all part of the charm right?

I tried removing the finish on a TU-2 pedal that had been spray painted Lime Green and I could not get to bare metal with conventional means. I think that some are Powder Coated and that stuff really sticks. Why not try these?

Just Google Duct tape designer images

Take a picture of it before and one after and then post here or it didn't happen.

Nice! That looks great. Did you put a clear coat on over the duct tape?

If you use the "classic" silver, it'll resemble my truck!

No clear coat... too lazy and cheap to go out and buy the spray and sandpaper and stuff :P
