StoogeSurfer April 28th, 2012, 10:09 AM OK, let's see those TDPRI bands in action. Bonus points for originals, or maybe a drunk patron falling on stage.
No drunks in this one but there is a stooge in a green hoodie.

Big John Studd April 28th, 2012, 10:36 AM Cool! This one features me up front, another TDPRI'er picking lead, and a PA clipping all to hell.

Big John Studd April 28th, 2012, 10:40 AM Yeah, Centerville kicks ass! Very visually appealing too!!!
Stooge, awesome gig at the Washington Monument! Looks cold...brrr.

StoogeSurfer, Thanks. It's over year old now but it was a fun experience.

Yes, indeed.
Martin R April 28th, 2012, 01:20 PM This is from a show last night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzDi91xCbfQ&list=UUnOhZskgYdH55Qug0cMbLOw&index=3&feature=plcp). Someone in the audience taped it and put it up on YouTube.
It's the first time Christina has translated one of her songs into spanish. (For all I know she's singing, "my shoes are full of gravy". Let me know if we screwed anything up.)
The only Tele content is the black Custom on a stand.

Big John Studd, both the Teles sound great. Are you both running Fender amps? It's hard to see.

Sounds great. Good mix of songs. Harder to Breathe seems like it would be fun one to play. That had to be a cool gig.
Big John Studd April 28th, 2012, 02:17 PM Thanks man! After watching the video again, the amp you see peeking out between me and the drummer is the steel player's, a Roland Jazz Chorus of some vintage...I do not know much about these amps (other than they sound good!). I was running my Fender Hot Rod Deville...nothing fancy, but a great "take to the bar and play country" amp. I think the lead player was running a Blonde Fender Blues Jr. that evening..he also uses a real sweet vintage Deluxe Reverb at some gigs.

Martin, the acoustic playing sounds real nice. Is it a Martin? D-18?
Martin R April 28th, 2012, 02:48 PM Martin, the acoustic playing sounds real nice. Is it a Martin? D-18?
Thanks, John. And yes, I'm the original owner of '74 D18.
And I thought that was a pedal steel on your song...I'm trying to get that sound and can't figure it out. What part of Bama are you in?
Big John Studd April 28th, 2012, 03:03 PM That's awesome. I have a D-18L (L denoting "lefty")...my first "real" guitar. I would love to gig more with it, but since I play a lot of bar gigs I am terrified of the drunken guy falling into me and smashing it!!! I have actually left Alabama and live in DC (someone please kill me now)...my location is listed as "The Land Of Cotton" simply because I am still in denial :)
StoogeSurfer April 28th, 2012, 03:57 PM Sounds great. Good mix of songs. Harder to Breathe seems like it would be fun one to play. That had to be a cool gig.
Thanks ... it was cool in more ways than one, it was Mar. 31st and 45 degrees.
The PA was from EventEQ in Baltimore, I can't say enough good things about those guys.
Harder to Breathe is fun. Very easy but the heavy lifting is all on the drummer.

Big John where do you play out? I'm in the DC area too. Come on, we ain't so bad.

Not the greatest sound & video, as I believe this was taken with an iPhone, picking up the sound from the mains. In any case, an original song performed at the famous Rhythm Room in Phoenix last summer.
Big John Studd April 29th, 2012, 01:33 AM Come on, we ain't so bad.
Well now that's just putting it nicely...LOL. I kid, I kid. No, I give DC more hell than it deserves, that's for sure. I play all around up here...DC, MD, VA, PA, WV...but the majority of it winds up being in Montgomery County. I'm gonna try and email you via the TDPRI interface (let me know if you don't get it) and hopefully we can hook up on some pickin' (or drinkin', tellin' lies, coon huntin', etc.)!

Is that a Barden in that Tele Vincent? Your playing is spot on and it's a nice contrast with the crunched PRS.
I'm trying to learn some of the country style, it is really fun..

No. That particular guitar was built by myself and the other guitarist. He builds guitars so he help me with it. That's my take on Brent Masons Tele. It has three pickups. A SD Vintage Stack in the bridge, SD Hot Stack in the middle and a Mini Humbucker in the neck position. I was originally going to make a 52 Tele. Something that you could see the wood grain (Mary Kay or Butterscotch) but I had a slip with the router so I ended up going with a solid color. That little goof changed my whole plan. I always liked Brents guitar so at that point I thought I would model it after that.
If you are trying to learn a little of that style, I have several Video Lessons on youtube that could help.

StoogeSurfer April 29th, 2012, 11:11 AM Nice, I will be watching these.
Big fan of SDs, STR/L in my Tele. A DiMarzio Heavy Blues in the bridge with a blender pot made my AVRI Strat come alive...

Hey Fezz, Sounds Great. I love all the tremolo bar stuff you guys are doing on those Strats. It give the song a nice eerie effect. Very Cool Stuff!
StoogeSurfer May 1st, 2012, 08:58 AM Fezz 'San Bernardino' is totally sick.
I was expecting a Zappa cover but I like this better..
BedspreadPicnic May 1st, 2012, 09:42 AM Slide .. harmonica .. an amped up mandolin ... cool stuff!
The audio is straight from the SBD and the mandolin is not amped. That's why it is so loud (if that makes sense).
I also felt like one of you guys would comment on the girl. You guys are slippin.

Rich_S May 4th, 2012, 09:07 PM Dang it, Wilsey! I watched those videos yesterday, and this morning I woke up with "Superstar" running through my head. Haven't been able to shake it all day.
Have you made a proper recording of that song? Is it on a CD, available for download, etc.??? Lemme know, I might just have to buy it.

Thanks- I'm woking on recording a group of songs and the one's in the mix of them.... not sure if it will be released, etc. Personally I love the verse, but not as big a fan of the chorus- not just my version but the song in general.
Thanks- Jw

Thanks, I was very fortunate. Mine was very localized on my left tonsil and a few adjoining lymph glands, so they took out the tonsil and about 20 glands to be safe, then I did chemo and radiation. Didn't have many problems with the former, other than losing my sense of taste and fatigue, but the radiation tore my mouth up pretty good, killed one of my saliva glands, and now my thyroid's shutting down from it as well. Fortunately the remaining saliva gland still functions, and I can take meds for the thyroid.
When people have both sides of their neck zapped, it's way worse.
