Well, I've been debating it for a while, but I finally had my CVR modded. I had most of the Moyer mods done, and WOW what a difference. It's a completely different amp! I didn't dislike it before, but I love it now. The NFB added a ton of clean headroom, and the breakup seems much smoother and sweeter now. It used to break up around 3 or 4, but now not until 7 or 8. I've also got so much reverb now. More than I know what to do with. Reverb on 3 is what it used to be on 10, and 10 is just swimming. I was thinking of swapping out the blue frames, but now I don't think I will. They sound great. What a great amp. My tech brought it in under budget too. I'm thrilled. I highly recommend having the mods done if anyone's on the fence about it.

Glad you like it scrumley. Really good amp, and closer to the Vibroverb with some tweaks. Congrats! That clean headroom is pricelss.

Who did the work and what kind of price range? I'm thinking about the same mods - Thanks

Once the chassis is out on the bench an hour should do it. I just did one for a guy and the transformation was excellent.
It's also a good opportunity to give the amp a careful look over and bring it up to snuff if it's got a few quirks.
On the one I did it had been converted to adjustable bias but whoever did it never dialed the resistance ijn properly to get the range where it should have been. The amp was sold on the local craigslist for cheap because it was so noisy. I think I charged the owner about ninety dollars for everything.
I wrote about it here.

I had a local tech do the work. I think it was about an hour and a half of bench time and $6 in parts. Not too bad if you ask me. I think he found this forum a valuable resource when performing the mods too.

Prairie Dawg, that was a great link! Anyone thinking of doing the mods should read that or direct their techs there. Mine did all the mods except removing the surge protection diodes, he thought the benefit outweighed the risk.

Hi,
I'd like to add a pot to the NFB loop, so I can dial it in and out... this way, I could eliminate the hiss and get more clean headroom generally, but could wind it away and thus get the overdrive back when I needed it... which would suit playing in different bands.
Does anyone know the best way to go about this? Also, what kind of pot should I use? Where shall I locate it? Just tell me everything in as much detail as possible, please. :)
Thanks!
D.
