Hi peoples, I am cleaning up a Strat for a friend and under the pick guard is an inspection sticker for the electrics with a sig' 'Kim' and date 1992. We believe it is a MIM and the problems are, or were dodgy selector switch which turned out to be dirty contacts and scratchy pots. I cleaned everything up and sprayed with contact cleaner and all seems ok except the volume pot which, when on 0 has no sound at all on 1 it starts to come in.Is this normal? My Tele's still have a tiny bit of volume at bottom but not sure about Strat's.They all seem to be 500meg pots also.
Thanks for any replies.

What is normal? In theory all of the signal should be grounded at 0 and there shouldnīt be any sound at all so thatīs normal. The only thing that would bother me was if there was a big volume leap between 0 and 1.Then I would change the pot.(Maybe.)

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. My thoughts exactly about the zero position, The volume swells nicely from 1 up to 10 in a linear fashion without glitches or scratching. I think I will give it back and ask him to give it a go. I can always replace the pot if need be,I would hate it to fail at a gig:oops:
Cheers
