Need bighter LEDs: Can't tell if my BD-2 or TU-2 are on

I've searched, but couldn't seem to find an answer on here. I've had these pedals for years and just always dealt with it because I thought that's how Boss pedals were. I recently got a CS-3 and this Sunday I realized there was a HUGE difference in the LED brightness.

So, I'd like to change the LED's in my Blues Driver and Tuner so I can more easily see them. I can't imagine it's difficult. Just unsolder, check the +/- of the new LED and solder. What I don't know is size and if there is anything specific to look for in new LEDs. Also, if there is something extra that needs to be done that I'm not realizing please let me know.

Thanks.

Boss LEDs are 3mm, and you can swap in just about any color you want.

Voltage, amperage and intensity. Voltages will vary dependent on the diode, you can smoke one or drastically shorten its life if the voltage is too high. Amperage, if you use power supplies, won't make any significant difference. Intensity, brightness is your call. Worse case, you have to change out a resistor.
