Since the flood of Opry Mills mall shut down the Gibson store and banjo factory, I was wondering if it was going to be located there again. Any word?
Thanks

Gibson at Opry Mills?TelecasterSam April 24th, 2012, 12:44 PM Since the flood of Opry Mills mall shut down the Gibson store and banjo factory, I was wondering if it was going to be located there again. Any word? Thanks Hiker April 24th, 2012, 01:36 PM There are no known plans for it to reopen. What a shame... As an alternative, you can visit the store inside their factory in Memphis. Daddy Hojo April 24th, 2012, 01:40 PM I used to love going in there, but everything was retail priced. You'd think a Gibson direct factory connection could cut a better deal than guitar center... Mike Eskimo April 24th, 2012, 05:00 PM Cool place, was great to see a mando top carved right in front of you, a lot of guitars had dead strings on them. And what the other guy said regarding prices too. We were in Nashville to record a tune or two at a buddy's house. After we left the Gibson store we went over to the Opry for a free outdoor show of Dave Alvin's. Stage was right between a barbeque cart and a beer cart. It was also 65 degrees after a week of 90. A great night. mcgroup53 April 24th, 2012, 07:04 PM Since the flood of Opry Mills mall shut down the Gibson store and banjo factory, I was wondering if it was going to be located there again. Any word? Thanks No. They moved the OAI staff to the main factory in Nashville. The story of what actually happened at Opry Mills and the loss Gibson suffered (I have close friends there) is incalculable. The story of what actually happened at Opry Mills and the loss Gibson suffered (I have close friends there) is incalculable. Do tell. You can't leave us hanging like that... TelecasterSam April 24th, 2012, 10:49 PM Thanks for the info. I wondered if they were going to reopen the store or what. It makes sense that they'd move in to the electric guitar Gibson factory. I got to tour that plant once. It was great, all those guitars in different phases of completion. I learned a lot that day. Also, Mike Eskimo, I also saw some of the free shows at the Opry Plaza. One was Dale Watson. He's a good one. Anyone going to Nashville for a weekend, stretch it out another couple days and take in The Time Jumpers on Monday night at The Station Inn! You won't find a better western swing band anyplace. |
