Here's a song for everybody who owned a Morris Marina.

I just finished recording it.

Purely for fun, I came to the idea during a night drinking when I got to talk to a guy who does rally driving with a Morris Mini and he said that the Marina was the black sheep of Morris and the epitome of what was wrong with the British motoring industry.

I actually owned a Morris Ital (facelift Marina) for a (very short) while before it literally rusted itself to death ..

The torsion bar 1950s style front suspension was a hoot when it went wrong.

Great! Our family had one when I was a kid, me and my siblings loathed it. It was in vomit yellow, although BL described the colour more poetically as 'Harvest Gold'

That's not a Marina. There's no piano on top.

that was a very popular color for large appliances (refrigeratprs, stoves, etc) in the USA in the 70s...

what was the one that MG made, it was like an over-sized Mini ie. front-mounted transverse w/ front drive? I remember it was pretty canine - that is to say: a dog!

The Austin Maxi?

Or the Triumph Dolomite Sprint?

Both the Maxi and the Dolomite had a family resemblance to the mini.

MG made versions of what was referred to as the BMC 110 & 1300. Hydroelastic suspension & wobbly gear sticks were a trade mark.

Don't think the Maxi ever had an MG model.

The Dolomite Sprints were a really fun car i.e. rear wheel drive.

Few pictures of the one I'm thinking of:
