While sorting through my parts stash a while back I said to myself, "Self, I probably can make a 12-string electric out of this stuff." So, I did.

I used a plywood Epiphone LP Special body, a 12 string neck I got on Ebay a year or so ago because it looked like a good deal, a set of brand new Wilkinson humbuckers--origin unknown, and a 12-string TOM bridge and tailpiece set that has been in the parts bin for a long time. The clover button tuners are the only component I bought specifically for this project.

The body was in pretty good shape so I just sanded it lightly and sprayed several layers of nitro. The neck was unfinished. I inlayed a logo and sprayed the headstock black. I sprayed the back of the neck brown mahogany. The color coats were followed by several layers of nitro.

It plays easily and sounds good. Of course I had to put a little angle on the neck with a shim because of the TOM bridge, but otherwise assembly and setup went smoothly.

The moral of the story is, sort through all the extra components you've accumulated over the years. There might be a guitar in there.

Wow that looks amazing, I love LP specials and 12 strings I wonder if there's been one before.
