I noticed that the neck on my 2008 '52 reissue Tele is slightly (but noticeably) beefier then my buddy's new '52 AVRI Tele (both butterscotch blondes). Is it my imagination or were the neck specs changed recently?

Necks vary, irrespective of published specs.

They all differ somewhat from one another. My 2007 AVRI 52 has a slightly slimmer neck profile than my 2011 AVRI 52 which is fatter with a more pronounced V and slightly wider too.

I agree with slack and sonny wolf.
Last time the specs were changed was in mid 1998. With a lot of hand sanding, there will always be slight differences though.

+1. I agree with slack, sonny wolf AND Telemarkman!
Those '52RIs vary one from the next and despite more accurate tolerances in manufacture in recent years to produce a more consistent product, they still DO vary.

Thanks for the insight...Makes me even more happy with my Tele since it is the beefiest neck I have experienced on a '52 reissue so far and a nice change from the thin one on my other 1997 '52 reissue.

My 2008 '52 reissue Tele's neck generates noticeable static crackle when I move my hand up and down the neck with the finger under and/or over the strings. I noticed this is not unusal on these nitro finished necks (played several at GC that did the same to various degrees, even a 2008 Les Paul). The guitar was checked and all wiring is fine.
I sprayed the neck (at back) with anti static spray and it works remarkably well and hold the static at bay for quite awhile before it goes back to where it was.
I was wondering if anyone ever found more permanent solutions to this matter (and do we know why some necks have this issue and some don't? My tech could not get any helpful answers from Fender or from Gibson and considering this is something that is obviously reaccuring, as I've noticed on numerous guitars, I am a bit surprised).

Never heard of it before..... Maybe due to personal body chemistry ... ?

Is there a ground wire to the bridge? I will check mine this weekend.

I'd guess that there is very low humidity at his location.

Oh, you bet.
It'd be miserable without one.
