Hey all,

I've been using my Blackout Tele for about a year now and I love it. I've noticed though that I don't use the middle pickup as much as the others.

I wanted to try and switch this to a regular Tele configuration (2 pickups, 3 way switch) but I'm not entirely sure how to. Can someone help me find out how to do this?

ps: If I just dewired the middle pickup and removed it (leaving the wires leading to the pickup loose) would it make a difference if I just played the other pickups? (Mine is currently loose and I'm on the verge of just taking it out)

Sure you could just take it out, then wire it so you could have bridge and neck.

I had a couple of Blackouts for resale and wasn't really impressed with the middle pup, or the combined positions at all.

What you should really do is get a Stratocaster middle pickup to try in there.

I have a Nashville Tele and they sound great, and contrary to what some of the purists say, WILL give you Strat tones if you have the right pups.

The only thing about a Strat middle in your guitar is that you need to get one that has SOUTH top magnets, like Fender's Custom Shop Texas Special, Tex mex, or Fat 50's (RW/RP to the other two pups) to retain the noise cancel in the 2 and 4 positions.

Definitely try it ! I have a push/pull tone pot switch in my as well so can still get the bridge and neck like a regular Tele............7 WAY !!!!

thanks for that! I kinda wanted to give it more of a punch but really like the bridge pup. I was considering completely removing the middle one and replacing the neck with a filtertron or p90 or somewhere in those lines. What do you think about that?
