I use a blues JR tweed for now, but I would like to get a princeton reverb or a Twin Reverb for country.

Congrats!

Very clean looking amp...almost too clean. I have seen BF grille cloth that 'unyellowed' only one time...and that amp had been under its cover in a closet for decades.
Do you have other pics and the date codes...tranny numbers, tube chart, speaker numbers, serial nubmer??? The logo was not introduced on these amps until 1966, afaik.
IF that amp is all-original and is as clean as it appears to be and IF you gave less than $1800-2,000 USD, then the seller did not get a 'fair deal', imho. IF it is all-orignal and in what appears to be mint condition, then that amp breaks the curve on the value for this model, ime. Way above $2K if I own it and someone wants it....if it is what it is suposed to be.

Haha, i got you there . This is a reissue not an original 65 i'm afraid. I paid 700 euro's for it.

The original speakers in those are among my favorites. And strong and would be bullet proof to the extent that is possible...

No, Donald, yu didn't get me. I was being nice....I knew it wasn't 'right' for a vintage amp from the first glance at it. The panel and the cab are enough to tell me something would be wrong if it had been sold and bought as a vintage amp.

Congrats, Donald!

I had been looking awhile for a SFPR that I could actually try before buying but didn't find one I wanted to plunk my cash down for. I ended up buying a PRRI and have been extremely happy with it. Rebiased and loaded with my favorite NOS tubes and it sounds terrific. Having said that, it actually sounded pretty darn good with the stock tubes - I just prefer the NOS ones. Speaker break - in made a positive difference too - but I suspect yours may be already broken in. Enjoy - it's a great amp.

I love my PRRI. The amp I've wanted for years, and finally found. Hope you enjoy yours!

Before I used my Deluxe, I used the singer's '70s Princeton for full volume practices and gigs and it worked rather well. That's a great amp and one I would rather have than a Twin.

Twins, while legendary, are still good but only for high volume clean songs which I don't see a great need for. The Roland JC-120 is a similar amp and one I also didn't buy due to inability to break up without fuzz box. The Princeton's low wattage rating makes for such a cool punk rock tone without killing your ears. For a big gig if you need to reach a big area, and I once did San Diego Civic, we just put a mic (prolly SM-57) on it and it was amazing. I doubted using such a small amp with a mic but now I can't think of anything better. I wish I bought that Princeton from her.

That's alright, Donald. I have an eye for it. I had a customer bring in his newly acquired "1965 BFTR" back in the fall. within 20 seconds I had the burden of informing him that he had bought a 1969 SFTR chassis with a BF faceplate....sitting in a late '70's or early '870's cabinet with brand new JEnsens in it. HE had paid almost 3 prices for the amp....$2K!!!! TO top it off,the amp had a factory error in it and had been burning down two tubes on one side ofthe OT's primary everytime it had been fired up since it was brand new. AFter another $350, he had a great sounding and looking amp....it just doesn't look like a '65 BFTR...and will never be worth what he paid for it.
I look at these things with a skeptic's eye.....and it seems that every year the scams get more frequent.
I have a near mint '67 BFTR on the bench right now....fantastically clean with matching numbers amp. PRoblem??? Every cap and resistor on the board is new...as are all of the potentiometers except the bias pot. What a shame, eh?
Enjoy the amp....
