I don't own either but I've looked at both as practice amps. The vibro champ seems to be more usable as a bedroom/apartment amp @ 5 watts. But the super champ is nice because you can bypass the effects and you have a nice little tube amp. I wish they would have done that with the vibro

If I were to buy 1 of those for apt. use only, I would buy the Vibro Champ xd.

It goes loud and full enough for your purposes, costs less, doesn't need tube biasing, less tubes to buy, and sounds fine!

VCXD. You do have the additional channel on the SCXD, but apparently it still goes through the DSP or something like that so it's still a hybrid tube/ss circuit (as was pointed out to me a year ago). That being said, I do like the sound of channel 1 on my SCXD. You can probably get the same sound dialed in on a VCXD though, and they are lots cheaper and not as loud.

I live in an apt and can't imagine wanting an amp at home louder than the VCXD. Even as is, I usually have the master volume around 3.

VCXD is plenty loud, too bad mine went belly up.
Not sure what to do with the little guy now.

When the SCXD arrived, we were in a townhouse. (Neighbors on both sides of us, and upstairs/downstairs floorplan).
The SCXD sounded better, and the differences-features made it worth the difference in price.
It's what you really want, right?
