Yamaha APX-SPL

I have a Yamaha APX-SPL II that belongs to a friend which he gave me so that I could adjust the action. He bought it 10-15 years ago and the action has become pretty bad. I was hoping that the neck was bowed and adjusting the truss rod for proper relief would take care of the problem but that isn't the case. Short of resetting the neck it appears the only way to lower the action is to lower the saddle.

I took a quick look and there are three seperate pieces, all of which are fixed in place. I don't have any experience working on piezo bridges. Can those saddle pieces be removed without ruining the pickup? If not, should I sand down the top of the saddles? In either case, there isn't much excess saddle material to work with.
