I'm thinking about moving down to a PT mini. I've currently got a Nova Repeater, but I'm thinking of going to either a Flashback or an Echo Park to save space. Opinions?

What delay would you use on a PT mini?themandolinguy April 15th, 2012, 10:16 PM I'm thinking about moving down to a PT mini. You should find the pedals that do what you want them to do, then find the pedalboard that will hold them. To select the pedalboard first seems backward to me. As you can see, there isn't much room on a PT Mini. http://www.simpsonsfinephotography.com/photos/i-XKvc7tw/0/L/i-XKvc7tw-L.jpg studio1087 April 15th, 2012, 11:45 PM MXR Carbon Copy......nice and skinny..... http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k106/johnlg-2006/2BoardB.jpg themandolinguy April 16th, 2012, 01:32 AM My opinion? I do agree with that. It's just that for me I have discovered that having two tiers of pedals do not work for me. That's why I'm going back to a mini. I suppose I should go to a Flashback because I can't seem to tap worth a dime, but the strum tempo seems to work for me. Cameage April 16th, 2012, 03:24 AM Flashback +1. slowpinky April 16th, 2012, 04:24 AM red witch violet yep - that'll save you some space and it recharges too - however, you get more options with the flashback. jeremyb April 16th, 2012, 04:58 AM What features are important to you? Delta63 April 16th, 2012, 01:35 PM There are many compact pedals out there so fortuately, you can be picky. What tone are you aiming for??(analog, tape etc.) Price? TNO April 16th, 2012, 03:08 PM If you just need a good sounding basic delay the Modtone Mini Mod is hard to beat. Mine kicked the Flashback off my board. TeleSky April 16th, 2012, 03:19 PM If you are looking for TINY pedals, there are a few options I can think of... Mooer: Ana Echo and ReEcho Lovepedal: Echo baby Red Witch: Seven sisters Violet Though, personally i'd stick with the nova repeater you have now. I use one as my main delay, and i SERIOUSLY doubt it'll be replaced for a loooooooong time. themandolinguy April 19th, 2012, 06:22 PM [QUOTE=jeremyb;4090701]What features are important to you?[/QUOTE I was looking at the flashback a little bit more. It`s got the quarter + dotted eighth, which I pretty much leave on the repeater all the time. Just looking for something pretty clear with some dirt. I`m not sure there`s anything else there like that that has either tap or strum-tempo. Durango Twango April 20th, 2012, 12:23 AM Best delay I've used in years (and I've had a few) is the Diamond Memory Lane Junior. You can set it up so the modulation can be footswitchable, it has a tap, and the repeats are beautiful. I used it in a busy live mix and it just lifted up above keys, horns percussion and drums. Worth every square inch of pedalboard real estate. JesterR April 20th, 2012, 03:46 AM I have Catalinbread Montavillian Echo on my PT-mini. Compact, can be brighter, then CC and can do weird stuff, if I want. jnepo1 April 20th, 2012, 06:43 AM I've had the Carbon Copy and the Malekko 616 in terms of small delay pedals. I've used them as my main delay as well as secondary delay pedals along w/ a bigger delay pedal. Depending on what you are needing it for, the Flashback is a very versatile pedal in a small enclosure. Then there is also the Jack DeVille Dark Echo. It is very under-rated, and very versatile. It can do the Carbon Copy thing and also give you a tape sound and so much more. What's also a nice feature for space restricted boards is that it has top mounted jacks as opposed to side mounted. It is crisp and bright so it doesn't get muddy and helps cut through the mix a bit. PLUS you get all those other features. Got a pic of your PT mini rig? artdecade April 20th, 2012, 01:28 PM Guyatone Micro Digital Delay. http://www.guyatone.com/Md2.php radiomanjh April 21st, 2012, 08:30 PM VFE Blueprint Delay w/modulation pedal. A lot of tones to be had with this pedal. Very nicely designed. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and I'm getting some really good analog and tube tones that I've been looking for. You can really dial the Blueprint in for a lot different sounds. |
