what was this pjck-up?

Seems to me back in the day there was a pick-up that could be slid along a metal bar. The bar was attached to the pick guard. It was associated with jazz guitar. I thought that it was a Gibson product, but nothing in Gibson literature mentions it. Does anyone know what I am referring to?
