hi just to ask a question
do you performers
wright out the lyrics
to the songs your going to perform onto paper
or do you print them out
or are you a memory performer with the gift
when i did perform i would put the lyrics in a folder
on a stand in front of me all written out on paper in sleeves
i am now starting out again
and to wright out 120 songs
is gonna take a long time
is there a printing programme that is good for performers
thanks

If you are talking cover songs, I find the lyrics on the internet and then print them out (although double-check them against the song because they are not always accurate). Way quicker and easier than writing them out. I format them using the largest font I can so that it fits on a single page and put the chorus in italics or in a different color to help me keep track of where I am. I use a music stand at rehearsal when I am learning a song, but I memorize it before I play it live so I don't use a music stand on stage. I am lucky in that I have a pretty good memory when it comes to lyrics, although I definitely have times where I blanked and made up line or two or gone into my signature "mumble some random words" style.

I prefer printed as it is neater (plus I have horrible handwriting ). I try to sing from memory as much as possible though as I think a stand in front doesn't look too professional. I also find that you don't really get the same feel when you're reading the words as opposed to singing them from memory. I actually tend to screw up more with the words in front of me believe it or not. I get too dependant I guess. Just my 2 cents.
