Need some input?
Building another partscaster and wanted to get some opinions on the pups
For those who have them, how do you like the Texes Special pickups?
OH, and it will be on a standard 3p switch? and American Standard tele.
Thanks in advance for any and all input.

I have 5 Telecasters, 2 of them have Texas Specials, one is stock, one has Lindy Fralin and one has SD Hot for Tele pickups.
The one I use the most (my "go to") has Texas Specials. I endorse this product!

Before building guitars under my own name, I played a Fender b bender tele for 13 years as my main guitar with Texas specials. Warm, fairly high output. Versatile.

If you want something of comparable quality, tone, and budget, I also like the Seymour Duncan Hot for tele.

I really like them. A lot of people do not.

I also liked Lace Sensors and still do - nobody did, until recently.

YMMV

I love the TS neck pickup but prefer my Van Zandt bridge for traditional twang .I have them on a four way switch which I think is well worth considering. They are in my modified Fender Japan thinline TN-SPL

I have had a Tex SP in the neck position since 1994, and I love it. My stock American Standard pickup got the tiny wire broken and wouldn't work..... I needed another quick,[for a gig], ... The music store didn't have a replacement in stock, but they did have the Tex Special. I grabbed it and put it in right away. I liked it even more than the stock one, which was good. I also heard a guy on a strat a few years back, and the tone was incredible... Asked him what pickups he was using.... Lace Sensors... Very nice... He played the blues.

Yeah, I have a Custom Shop Tele that I got back in maybe 95 or 96 to do a tour with someone. They suggested the Texas Specials to me and I really like them a lot.

I should say normally I like lower output pickups but the Texas Specials have a great neck pickup and a bridge pickup that is a little less shrill. They work for me.

YMMV

I put a set in a strat I built. With the way I wired it (like a G&L S-500), I can make it sound like a strat, tele, Les Paul or even a Gretsch.

I love them!

I have the CS Texas Special in the bridge position of my partscaster, along with a TV Jones Classic in the neck position. Works really well for my purposes as it's pretty high output and can hold up against the TV Jones. It's a great rock/blues pickup that does a good job of trad twangy tele tones, as well. The trick with the bridge pickup is dialing in the pickup height juuuust right.

Neck pup is an AlNico 5 which is very Burbly/Glassy and not dark at all. The Bridge is also an AlNico 5 and features the 60s 70s staggered poles and is very full sounding @ 10k output. My own preference is for a lower output Bridge pup around 6 to 6.5k output. Theres more snap quack and pop to my ears with the lower output bridge pups which are great for Classic Country and older Pop Rock N-roll from back N-the day.

Theres a reason those Texas Spcls feature a higher output...just make sure the music you play is aplicable for a higher output bridge pup...if not, you may be unhappy with your choice

My main Tele has a great sounding neck TS, as I said above.... I haven't heard the TS bridge pup. I have an older Fender vint. Reissue 52 tele pup in the bridge. Alnico five, 9200 turns 42 ga wire, 7.5 ohms. I love my bridge sound and together with the TS neck, it's wonderful.
