Newbie modder question:

I have just re-finished a maple neck with a custom decal and with a polyurethane finish. I had to go heavy on the headstock to get rid of the decal edges but now the fretboard and headstock are different shade.

Would you leave this alone or put loads of poly on the fretboard too?

Was thinking of trying the kiwk finish??.....

Any suggestions appreciated.

I would leave it alone. You don't want a lot of poly on the fretboard. Once it's strung up, I doubt anyone will notice but you. Post a picture if you can.

Go for function, not appearance. Leave the fingerboard alone.

What's a "kiwk finish" that you were thinking of trying?

Sorry, I meant a "kiwi" finish as in the poor man's neck darkening process with Kiwi brown shoe polish.
