Gfs "Cool Vintage" Lil Puncher XL Telecaster set

Hello, i went to a pawn shop few day's ago and i found a SX Furrian or $40. To be honnest the electronics is a pieces of crap but the neck the boby is just terrefic so as the rest of the guitar the intonation was perfect. So I'm really interested about the Calibrated Pickup Set "Cool Vintage" Lil Puncher XL Telecaster, so my question is this those pups come whit four wires so i would like to use the tap coil option. I know that they recomended to use 500k pots but if i do so when i will switch to single coil i think it will sounded to bright, if i used 250k would the pickups sounded to dark when it will be humbuckers.
What should i used for pots 250k or 500k. need so help here.Thanks.
